Modernity in Brave New World

“The rise of modernity during the early twentieth century brought monumental changes to many areas of life including labor and commerce, religion, and government. We see modernity come to life within Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World—religion is abandoned, social castes are adhered to, and innovation within biological and technological sectors is unmatched—yet, problems still arise, and citizens of the World State are left dissatisfied. This essay will explore the ways in which Huxley’s World State represents mankind’s misguided acquisition of ‘dangerous knowledge’ and extreme modernism, ultimately resulting in the irrevocable damage of society.”
