life preserver

You are your own person
And they are theirs

Stop placing your value
In men who don’t respect you

You latch on so quickly
Like a survivor to a life raft

But why are you drowning?
Don’t you know you are your own life preserver?

Let the waves wash over you
You are okay

Find peace in yourself
Look towards the shore

Stop placing your value
In men who don’t respect you

Can’t you see you are swimming
All by yourself?

Your buoyancy is more than you could
Ever imagine.
